Lady Liberty


The Statue of Liberty was presented to America in 1886 by France. Under her left arm, Lady Liberty holds a book. At her feet are broken shackels. In her right arm, she holds a torch. It is made out of copper which has changed color overtime. The Statue of Liberty is a symbol of freedom. Gustave Eiffel was the designer of the Statue of Liberty. The Statue of Liberty weighs 450,000 lbs. There are 7 rays on her crown to represent the 7 continents and the 7 seas.

Statue Of Liberty




The Statue of Liberty was built with the help of France. The statue is 151 feet tall.
The Statue of Liberty is a woman holding a lit flame in her right hand and in her left hand is a tablet which the date that the Decleration of Indpendence was signed engraved in it. At her feet is a broken chain which represents freedom of the slaves. The Statue is made of a sheeting of pure copper, hung on a frame work of steel except for the flame which is coated in gold leaf. People around the world call her Lady Liberty. Lady Liberty's color is now green because of a chemical reaction process called oxidation that happened between the sea water around her. There are 154 steps from the pedestral to the head of the staute. The location of the of the statue is on Liberty Island, New York.

Statue of Liberty


Did you know that the Statue of Liberty is located on Ellis Island in New York? The sculptor of the Statue of Liberty is Frederic Auguste Barthold. The Statue of Liberty took ten hours a day, 7 days a week, and 9 years to finish. It was finished in 1884. Also it was presented to America July 4th. Lady Liberty holds a tablet in her left hand that reads July 4,1776. Lady Liberty holds a flaming torch in her right hand. There are seven rays on the Statue of Liberty's crown, one for each of the seven continents, each measuring up to 9 feet in length and weighing as much as 150 pounds. Also the Statue of Liberty was dedicated on October 28,1886. Lady Liberty also has a chain representing the symbol of Freedom. The Statue came from the French as a gift.
