Golden Gate Bridge by Blake and Chasen

The Golden Gate Bridge was started on Jan.5, 1933.  The chief engineer was Joseph B. Strauss.
11 men were killed while building it. 10 were killed when a part of the bridge fell. The bridge has 4,200 foot long suspension spans. The bridge is 1,280 meters long!!! The Golden Gate Bridge is located in San Francisco, California. The real color of the bridge is duliur international orange. The suspension spans were a world record because they stood for 27 years. The steel used to make the bridge came from New Jersey, Maryland, and Pennsylvania. It was shipped through the Panama Canal. The Golden Gate Bridge got its name from the San Francisco Bay into the Pacific Ocean and they called it the Golden Gate. On October 17, 1989 162,414 vehicles crossed the bridge. That’s the most that’s ever crossed in one day. The bridge was first named Chrysopybe meaning golden gate. It’s an international symbol for California. The bridge was finished on May 27, 1937. Joseph B. Strauss built it so people could go from northern California cross the Pacific Ocean and end up in San Francisco.
