
What's Mt. Rushmore? Mt. Rushmore is a 60 ft. 18. 3m mountain with the faces of 4 presidents carved into it. The carvers of Mt. Rushmore were Duane Robinson and Gutzon Borglum. The four presidents carved on Mt. Rushmore are Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Rosevelt and George Washington. The figure of Thomas Jefferson was started on George Washington's right. After 18 months of carving the figure of Thomas Jefferson had to be dynamited off the mountain and once again started but started on the left of George Washington. About 2 million tons of rock were blasted off the mountainside during this blow off. The entire project cost the U.S. Senate 989,992.32. It was named after a New York City Attorney Charles E. Rushmore. Gutzon Borglum the carver of Mt. Rushmore died in 1941. Mt. Rushmore is proudly in South Dakota. Mt.
