Mt. Saint Helens by Megan and Payton

Mount St. Helens is a volcano in the Cascade Mountains, 95 miles (153 km) south of Seattle. It is 8,363 ft high. It is 40,000 years old. Mount St. Helens takes its English name from the British diplomat lord St. Helens, a friend of George Vancouver who made a survey of the area in the late 18th century. At 8:32 Sunday morning Mount St. Helens erupted shaken by a 5.1 earthquake. There were unfortunately 57 people killed by Mount St. Helens when it. The lava poured out rounding to the speed of 650 miles per hour. Mount St. Helens transformed millions of acres of prehistoric forest into a virtual wasteland. Mount St. Helens was one of the biggest eruptions ever.

Mt. Rushmore by Emily and Faith

What's Mt. Rushmore? Mt. Rushmore is a 60 ft. 18. 3m mountain with the faces of 4 presidents carved into it. The carvers of Mt. Rushmore were Duane Robinson and Gutzon Borglum. The four presidents carved on Mt. Rushmore are Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Rosevelt and George Washington. The figure of Thomas Jefferson was started on George Washington's right. After 18 months of carving the figure of Thomas Jefferson had to be dynamited off the mountain and once again started but started on the left of George Washington. About 2 million tons of rock were blasted off the mountainside during this blow off. The entire project cost the U.S. Senate 989,992.32. It was named after a New York City Attorney Charles E. Rushmore. Gutzon Borglum the carver of Mt. Rushmore died in 1941. Mt. Rushmore is proudly in South Dakota. Mt. Rushmore was not actually finished, but had to be stopped in 1941 because of the death of Gutzon Burglom. Isn't Mt. Rushmore the coolest of all?
